David Vaux is a former London firefighter who served for 15 years in fire rescue operations and as a physical education officer until a career-ending injury. He later retrained as an osteopath and entered academia, successfully applying strength and movement principles to his own rehabilitation from long-term pain. David combines his personal and clinical experience in his work as an osteopath, having also provided injury prevention and conditioning advice in the performing arts and international sports. Additionally, he is the Head of Therapy and Exercise at a leading UK arthritis charity.
David is recognised as an authority on strength and resilience in older age, regularly contributing to projects like the HMG's Healthy Ageing Challenge. He holds undergraduate and masters degrees in osteopathy, as well as a further masters degree in health and exercise science.
A regular contributor to mainstream media and podcasts on healthy ageing, David also works one-on-one with individuals, delivering his unique framework for lifelong strength, resilience, and health. He provides expert training and mentorship for clinicians and fitness professionals on his approach.
David's first book, Stronger, was published by Hachette in 2024 and articulates the central mission that underpins all his work:
The democratisation of strength for health and happiness deep into older age.
